Welcome to the website of the First Georgia Volunteer Infantry, commanded by Colonel James N. Ramsey. My book on this interesting regiment, I Will Give Them One More Shot, A History of the First Georgia Volunteer Infantry (Ramsey's), is in pre-production, and should be available in the latter part of 2010.  I continue to welcome genealogical information, letters, diaries, photographs, etc. My ancestor, William Henry Marshall, served in the Dahlonega Volunteers, Company H of the First Georgia.

"Nothing could induce me to leave the quiet & enjoyment of my own domestic hearth for this life of turmoil & confusion save the call of my country for the services of her sons. I am now enlisted in that service & will never no never desert my post, but this does not prevent my heart yearning for the dear ones at home as God grant that we may soon meet again" - Lieutenant William O. Fleming, Bainbridge Independents.
